Arrive at Dharamshala

By Airplane:

The nearest airport is Ghaggar Airport, about 15 km from Dharamshala, just an hour's drive. The airport is served by flights from Delhi and Chandigarh. Other airports with regular and international flights from India's major cities are Jammu Airport, which is about 210 km from Dharamshala, and Chandigarh Airport, which is about 210 km from Dharamshala.

By Train:

The nearest railway station is Pathankot, about 95 km from Dharamshala. Dharamshala can also be reached by taking the narrow gauge railway line from Pathankot to Jogindelnagar. This train is popularly known as the Kangra Valley Toy Train. Chamunda Marg Station is the closest station to Dharamshala on this narrow-gauge line, and it takes about 30 minutes to reach Dharamshala from here.

By Road:

Dharamshala is accessible by land from major cities such as Chandigarh, Jammu, Delhi and Shimla. Buses run regularly on this route and most are air-conditioned.

Optimal Travel Time

Triund:

Located 17 km from Dharamshala, the place offers beautiful views of snow-capped mountains and rugged valleys. He's also one of the most popular picnic spots, and there are many hikes in the area.

Here in Dharamshala, Tibetan food predominates over Indian food. There are several restaurants and eateries that serve Indian cuisine, but be sure to try Tibetan dishes such as momos and tentus.
