Travel from Vadodara to the sacred Kedarnath Temple on a carefully planned 5-night/6-day pilgrimage. The programme includes arrival and departure nights in Haridwar, private Himalayan road transport, accommodation near Guptkashi and practical options for completing the Kedarnath journey by trek, authorised pony or palki, or an officially booked helicopter.
Kedarnath Temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva and a major shrine of the Uttarakhand Chardham circuit. Situated high in the Garhwal Himalayas, it is reached from the Kedar valley by an approximately 16 km uphill route beginning at Gaurikund.
This six-day itinerary gives travellers separate arrival and departure days between Vadodara and Haridwar. The mountain circuit then travels through Rudraprayag and Guptkashi to Kedarnath before returning to Haridwar. The programme is compact, so train or flight timings must be selected carefully.
Flight and train schedules change. Use a connection that reaches Haridwar, Dehradun or the confirmed meeting point with sufficient time on Day 1. Day 6 begins from Haridwar, making the return journey more reliable than attempting to travel directly from the mountains to Vadodara.
The official Uttarakhand Tourist Care portal lists the Kedarnath Dham opening date as 22 April 2026. Temple timings and the closing date should be checked again before purchasing non-refundable travel because operational information may be updated by the authorities.
Every pilgrim and tour vehicle must be registered on the official Uttarakhand Tourist Care system. Carry the QR-coded Yatra Registration Letter and a valid government-issued photo ID for verification at the designated checkpoints and Kedarnath Dham.
Visit the revered Himalayan Jyotirlinga according to the official temple timings and queue arrangements operating on the travel date.
Attend the evening ceremony at Har Ki Pauri when the Vadodara arrival time and local crowd controls permit.
Travel through Rudraprayag, Guptkashi and the scenic valley leading towards Sonprayag and Gaurikund.
Choose the trek or separately arrange an authorised pony, palki or official helicopter ticket.

Distances and travel times are approximate. Weather, landslides, traffic, road controls, temple operations and guest health may require changes.
Travel from Vadodara by the separately booked flight or train printed in the final itinerary. Air travellers normally use a suitable Dehradun or Delhi connection and continue by road; rail passengers may use Haridwar, Dehradun or another confirmed station.
Meet the representative at the agreed arrival point and transfer to the hotel. Attend the evening Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri when arrival time, traffic and crowd controls permit.
Night stay: Haridwar
Depart early and travel through Rishikesh, Devprayag, Srinagar and Rudraprayag towards the Kedar valley. Brief river-confluence or viewpoint stops depend on safe parking, traffic and daylight.
The confirmed hotel may be in Guptkashi, Sitapur, Rampur or another nearby location according to availability and the Kedarnath reporting plan. Prepare a small overnight bag and confirm the next morning's Sonprayag or helipad reporting time.
Night stay: Guptkashi, Sitapur, Rampur or nearby
Trek option: Drive before dawn to Sonprayag and continue by authorised local shuttle to Gaurikund. Begin the approximately 16 km uphill walk to Kedarnath. The trek commonly takes 6–8 hours and may take longer during rain or heavy traffic.
Alternative services: Authorised pony or palki may be hired locally. Helicopters may operate from Guptkashi, Phata or Sirsi, but tickets require separate official confirmation and remain subject to weather, passenger requirements and operational clearance.
After arrival, check in and complete darshan according to the temple timings and queue arrangements operating that day.
Night stay: Basic hotel, lodge or camp in Kedarnath
Attend early darshan when practical, then descend to Gaurikund. Continue by authorised local shuttle to Sonprayag and meet the tour driver at the pre-agreed pickup point. Helicopter guests follow the reporting instructions printed on their confirmed ticket.
Mobile coverage and parking can be difficult around Sonprayag. The driver and guests should agree on a meeting point and backup contact procedure before starting the Kedarnath journey.
Night stay: Guptkashi, Sitapur, Rampur or nearby
Start early for Haridwar through Rudraprayag, Srinagar, Devprayag and Rishikesh. Visit Maa Dhari Devi Temple or a safe Devprayag viewpoint only when opening hours, traffic and daylight permit.
Check in at Haridwar after the long mountain drive. Keeping this overnight stay before the Vadodara connection provides a safer buffer for road delays.
Night stay: Haridwar
After breakfast, transfer to the confirmed railway station, airport connection or departure point. Continue to Vadodara using the separately booked travel arrangement shown in the final itinerary.
The departure transfer timing will be based on the reporting time, traffic and the location of the selected station or airport.
Tour ends: At the confirmed Vadodara arrival or land-tour drop point
The official Gaurikund–Kedarnath route is approximately 16 km. Start early, walk steadily and follow local safety instructions.
Hire only through authorised local counters. Charges, reporting points and availability are controlled locally.
Tickets must use the official IRCTC HeliYatra channel and remain subject to weather, passenger rules and operational clearance.
Temple queues, darshan slots and entry procedures are controlled by the authorities. Assistance or priority access is included only when officially authorised and expressly confirmed in the final voucher.
Air conditioning is normally used where road and weather conditions permit. It may be switched off on steep mountain sections. Vadodara travel is included only when expressly printed in the final quotation.
May and June are popular but crowded. September and October can provide a quieter experience after the main monsoon, although nights become colder. July and August carry increased rain, landslide and road-delay risk.
Separate Haridwar arrival and departure nights reduce the risk of missed Vadodara connections after the mountain journey.
Choose trekking or request authorised pony, palki or helicopter information according to health and availability.
The final quotation identifies the land tour, Vadodara connection and separately payable local services.
