Detailed 10-Day Char Dham Family Itinerary
Day 1
Haridwar → Mussoorie Sector → Barkot
Begin the Journey to Barkot
Meet the driver at the confirmed Haridwar pickup point and travel towards Barkot. The route may pass through the Mussoorie and Kempty Falls sector depending on current traffic and road advice.
A brief Kempty Falls stop is possible when parking, daylight and traffic permit. Continue to Barkot, check in at the hotel and rest before the Yamunotri excursion.
Day 2
Barkot → Janki Chatti → Yamunotri → Barkot
Yamunotri Temple Darshan
Leave early and drive to Janki Chatti, the final motorable point. Begin the approximately 6 km ascent to Yamunotri Temple. Walking, pony, palki and doli options are available under separate local arrangements.
Visit Yamunotri Temple, Divya Shila and the Surya Kund area according to current access and safety instructions. Surya Kund is a very hot sacred spring and should not be treated as a normal bathing pool.
Descend to Janki Chatti, meet the driver at the confirmed point and return to Barkot for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3
Barkot → Dharasu → Uttarkashi
Travel to Uttarkashi
After breakfast, leave Barkot and drive towards Uttarkashi. The road passes through mountain settlements and the Yamuna–Bhagirathi region.
On arrival, check in at the hotel. Visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple if opening hours and travel time permit. Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4
Uttarkashi → Harsil → Gangotri → Uttarkashi
Gangotri Temple Darshan
Depart early after breakfast and travel through Gangnani, Dharali and Harsil towards Gangotri. Short scenic stops depend on traffic, weather and the temple schedule.
Proceed for Gangotri Temple darshan and spend time beside the Bhagirathi River. Return through the upper valley to Uttarkashi for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5
Uttarkashi → Tehri Sector → Guptkashi → Sersi/Sitapur
Long Drive to the Kedarnath Valley
Leave early for the long mountain journey towards the Kedarnath valley. The precise route can change according to road conditions and official controls.
If arrival time permits, visit Vishwanath or Ardhanarishwar Temple in Guptkashi. Continue to the confirmed hotel in Sersi, Sitapur, Sonprayag or Guptkashi for dinner and rest.
Day 6
Sonprayag → Gaurikund → Kedarnath
Trek to Kedarnath Dham
Leave before dawn and use the authorised local shuttle between Sonprayag and Gaurikund. Private tour vehicles normally remain at or before the designated Sonprayag point.
Begin the approximately 16 km ascent to Kedarnath. Pilgrims may walk or use separately arranged pony or palki services. Helicopter passengers require a different confirmed helipad and hotel plan.
After arrival, check in at the confirmed basic accommodation and proceed for darshan or evening aarti according to temple timings and crowd arrangements.
Day 7
Kedarnath → Gaurikund → Sonprayag → Sersi/Sitapur
Morning Darshan and Descent
Visit Kedarnath Temple or Bhairavnath Temple early if required and conditions permit. Check out and begin the approximately 16 km descent to Gaurikund.
Take the authorised local shuttle to Sonprayag and meet the driver at the clearly confirmed meeting point. Continue to the hotel in the Sersi, Sitapur or Guptkashi sector.
Triyuginarayan Temple is not guaranteed after a full walking descent. It may be added only for an early assisted descent, suitable road access and sufficient daylight, or by extending the itinerary.
Day 8
Sersi/Sitapur → Rudraprayag → Joshimath → Badrinath
Drive to Badrinath Dham
After an early breakfast, travel towards Badrinath through the Alaknanda valley. Depending on the operating route, a brief Ukhimath or Omkareshwar Temple visit may require a detour and additional time.
Continue through Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, Nandaprayag and Joshimath. A Narsingh Temple visit is possible only when arrival time, parking and temple hours permit.
Check in near Badrinath, Pandukeshwar or Joshimath. Evening darshan is subject to the actual arrival time and temple arrangements.
Day 9
Badrinath → Mana → Joshimath → Srinagar
Badrinath Darshan and Return to Srinagar
Visit Badrinath Temple early if darshan was not completed the previous evening. A short Mana village visit may be possible with an early start and suitable local access.
Begin the long return drive through Joshimath. Brief stops near Vishnuprayag, Nandaprayag or Karnaprayag depend on traffic and daylight. A Maa Dhari Devi Temple stop may be included before reaching Srinagar when the schedule permits.
Check in at the Srinagar hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 10
Srinagar → Devprayag → Rishikesh → Haridwar
Complete the Char Dham Yatra
After breakfast, leave Srinagar and drive towards Haridwar. Stop at Devprayag when parking and road conditions permit to view the confluence where the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers form the Ganga.
Continue through Rishikesh and conclude the journey at the agreed Haridwar hotel, railway station or accessible drop-off point.
